Intimate jewellery
Intimate jewellery refers to piercings that are permanently attached to the male and female sexual organs, i.e., mainly in the intimate area. In common usage, nipple clamps, pubic mound chains or clitoris clasps and others are also often referred to as intimate jewellery. Strictly speaking, however, these are sex toys that are only used temporarily for pleasure. Intimate jewellery or intimate piercings are used because they look pretty and feel good. Many years ago, different types of intimate jewellery were already used in several primitive and indigenous peoples. Until now, numerous piercing variants can be stitched in the genital area for both women and men. Of course, these differ somewhat due to the anatomy, but there are also piercings that are possible for both sexes.
Intimate jewellery for women can be found on the nipples, in the belly button and in the vaginal area. The most widespread jewellery below the waistline is the clitoral hood piercing. Labia piercings can be worn on both the inner and outer labia. The so-called “Christina piercing” is pierced vertically and runs from the lower mons veneris to the fold where the labia meet. A combination of Christina and clitoral hood piercing is the "Nefertiti" piercing. Also called “Princess Albertina”, it runs from the vaginal opening to the urethral opening.
For men, the so-called “Prince Albert piercing” is the counterpart to the “Princess Albertina piercing” and is a popular intimate jewellery. It runs from the urethra to the lower wall of the penis. Scrotum piercings, also called hafada, are only pierced the skin, so the inner testicles are not affected. A so-called “frenulum piercing” sits just below the foreskin frenulum.
If piercings are chosen as intimate jewellery, it is very important to go only to professionally trained piercers. If the sensitive areas are not pierced professionally, it can lead to various complications and desensitisation of the genitals. Hygiene also plays an important role. However, this does not only apply to the piercing itself, but also to the time of healing of a freshly pierced intimate jewellery. Depending on the placement, this phase can last from a few weeks to six months. During the aftercare period, moderate to medium pain, swelling and in some cases slight post-operative bleeding may occur. Careful attention and close monitoring of new intimate piercings are therefore essential. In most cases, however, you will not have any problems with your intimate jewellery after it has healed.
However, we strongly advise against all piercing variants not listed here, most of which have oriental names. These are intimate jewellery which, although unusual and sometimes supposed to increase pleasure, can also pose some health risks. This is because the clitoris or the glans are pierced. The countless nerve endings that are located there can be sensitively injured during piercing, and thus the general sensitivity can be permanently disturbed.
