Masturbation
Masturbation is the sexual stimulation of one's genitals for the purpose of sexual pleasure and horniness, usually leading to climax (orgasm). Also called masturbation or onanism, stimulation can be done with hands, fingers, everyday objects, sex toys such as vibrators, or combinations of these. One also speaks of masturbation when one partner stimulates the other with the hand or aids on the genitals (penis, vulva). The beautiful feeling of orgasm occurs regardless of whether one masturbates or has sex with a partner. Even if most people don't talk about it openly, masturbation is normal for people of all sexes and ages. Even children of kindergarten or school age sometimes find that touching their genitals feels good and instinctively touch themselves there. By puberty at the latest, most boys, and girls, then consciously explore their bodies with their hands. This often leads to arousal with subsequent masturbation.
Masturbation is therefore a real opportunity to get to know one's own body better. Through masturbation, many people also find out what they like sexually. For example, where they like to be touched and how much pressure they need. If you first learn to have an orgasm alone, it can be easier to climax during sex with a partner as well. Many people believe that you only masturbate when you don't have a sexual partner. But many people masturbate even when they are in a committed relationship. However, this does not mean that the respective partner does not satisfy them. Some people often masturbate — every day, or at times even more than once a day. Others masturbate less often or even never. In any case, masturbation is perfectly healthy and normal, although some myths would have us believe that masturbation is unhealthy or bad. So, masturbation does not make you blind, crazy or stupid, nor does it damage your genitals. It also doesn't cause pimples, and it doesn't stunt growth. Some people learn at a young age that masturbating is wrong or bad, and therefore feel guilty when they do it. Often this is because of different morals or cultures and religions. However, the truth is that masturbation is completely safe — and even has many health benefits. These are noticeable both psychologically and physically. During orgasm, the body releases endorphins. These hormones inhibit pain and provide a positive feeling. In studies, doctors have found that men who masturbate regularly could greatly reduce their risk of prostate cancer, among other things. Masturbation also helps with sleep problems or psychological problems.
There are many reasons for masturbation. Reducing sexual arousal is a common reason for doing it to yourself. Masturbation helps with general relaxation of the body. However, most people masturbate simply because it feels good, i.e., for the fun of it. Pornographic images or films are often used to stimulate masturbation. Colloquially, this is referred to as jerk-off templates. Sometimes only a sexual fantasy is enough to build up the necessary sexual arousal. To keep masturbation as healthy and good as possible, some tips should be followed:
- Hands should always be washed before touching the intimate area.
- Using a good lubricant reduces friction and makes touching more pleasant.
- When using sex toys, they should always be cleaned. Otherwise, bacteria can accumulate and cause an infection.
