Rimming

Rimming, also called rim job, is the English term for a sexual practice in which the anus is orally stimulated. The word anilingus, which is also often used for this, comes from Latin and is composed of the words “anus” and “lingere” (to lick). Other terms for licking the anus are Tongueanal (TA for short), anus licking, Oroanal (Latin for mouth and anus). Colloquially, the term analingus is often used, but this is not correct from a linguistic point of view.
In addition to the anus (pole hole), the surrounding region is also stimulated with the tongue and lips during the sex practice of rimming. This can therefore also extend to the perineum (the transition between the genital area and the buttocks).

Historically, forced rimming, mostly in public, was a form of humiliation or punishment of prisoners. Later, rimming was practised for pleasure. With the opening up of sexual freedoms, however, rimming has not only increased in fetish circles, but has also found its way into many marital bedrooms.

Rimming is practised by women and men alike – in both same-sex and heterosexual constellations. Men who desire a rim job from their partner are by no means automatically homoerotically inclined. Since the region around the anus is covered with numerous nerve endings, it is basically assigned to the erogenous zones of both sexes. Depending on preference, personal boundaries and trust, penetration with the tongue can also take place in addition to licking the outer anus. However, not everyone likes intimate touching of the buttocks and especially the anus.

For those who like it, there are several positions in which rimming can be practised. The only prerequisite is that the receiver's anus can be easily reached with the mouth and tongue. A popular position for anilingus is Facesitting: the giver lies on his back while the partner kneels or squats over his face. Smotherboxes or queening chairs, originally designed for queening (synonymous with Facesitting), may also be used for this variation.

To weigh up the health risks, one must distinguish between two variants of rimming. There is the oral anal intercourse known as “clean rimming” and the “unclean” or “dirty” rim job. The fundamental difference is the anal hygiene that takes place beforehand. Thorough external and internal cleaning of the rectum using a colonic irrigation is the basis for clean rimming. This is especially advisable if the partner wants to penetrate deeply into the anus with his tongue. If this hygiene measure is applied, the risk of infection with pathogens is relatively low. Instead or in addition, a lick cloth, which resembles a special transparent film, is often used. This protective cloth, known in the trade as a rubber dam, is also used when practising cunnilingus (oral vaginal stimulation) and is available in erotic shops.
With unclean rimming, on the other hand, no or at least no special emphasis is placed on thorough cleaning of the anal area. In more extreme forms such as coprophilia (sexual preference for ingesting human excrement), the dirty variant is even the clearly preferred one. However, the active partner puts himself in health danger in this situation, as there is a high load of faecal bacteria in the stool. Rimming is strongly discouraged, especially if the recipient is suffering from diseases or infections. How high the number of pathogenic germs ultimately is depends solely on the health of the intestinal flora. Couples who live out this fetish should definitely undergo regular health checks and pay special attention to their intestinal health.

Rim-job related play types are:

• The anal insertion of objects before the actual licking.
• Ass-to-mouth (A2M for short), in which the erect penis is taken orally by the passive partner directly after anal intercourse (indirect anilingus).
• Felching, in which one partner licks the ejaculate (usually their own) from or out of the other's anus after climaxing during anal intercourse.
